Family on Board

New Hampshire and Local Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANTRIM--Summer travel usually means family trips to the beach, excursions to the amusement park, or camping in the mountains. And, as any parent will tell you, a family trip also means a chorus of, "Are we there yet?" from the back seat.

Brian Beihl of Antrim hopes that his new national catalog, Family on Board - Gear for Safe, Happy Travel, will be the first stop when parents are planning the next family vacation. Beihl, president of MCE Catalog Ventures, Inc. and himself a father of three young children, said that Family on Board carries over 250 products for car, plane, ship and train travel to take the tedium out of long trips.

"We try to choose our entertainment, safety and comfort items to make family travel less stressful, and more fun," Beihl said. "For instance, our puzzles and games are designed to keep kids occupied for long stretches on the road, and are self-contained or cling so that the pieces don't fall on the floor or between the seats."

The 32-page catalog will be mailed to 55,000 families around the U.S. this spring, with a

Fall/Winter catalog scheduled to be mailed October 1. In addition to the printed version, Beihl has also created a World-Wide Web site, www.familyonboard.com, which has all the products of the paper catalog, plus new and close-out items.

Among the many products featured in the catalog: "How-to" books about traveling with children; guides to the best family destinations; atlases and mapping software; luggage for kids and adults; storage units and organizers for cars or vans; sun shades and kids sunglasses; safety items such as seat belt adjusters, emergency kits and flashlights; no-spill drink bottles and travel coffee mugs, feeding and changing items for traveling with infants; puzzles, games and travel activities, including activities for night travel; and over 100 audiobooks and music cassettes.

"Our audiobook collection has some of the best of children's literature. We have several award-winning books for kids, but even more important, these are books that can be enjoyed by the whole family: Charlotte's Web, Where the Red Fern Grows, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and lots more," Beihl said.

Although the business and creative operations are based in Antrim, the warehouse and customer service operations are contracted to a company in High Point, North Carolina. The contractor, Graphik Dimensions, Ltd., has its own catalog of picture frames and supplies, in addition to assisting Family on Board.

"Eventually, I'd like to bring the fufillment and customer service jobs to the Monadnock Region," Beihl noted, "but the overhead in setting up a facility is far too capital intensive right now." He added that everything will depend on the success of the catalog over the next year. "It's up to the customers now," he said.

A free catalog is available to interested parents by calling 800-357-0212, or by visiting Family on Board's web site at www.familyonboard.com.
