Background on

Brian R. Beihl

After a career as a writer, editor, and circulation director for magazines, Brian Beihl has embarked on this new catalog venture with relish, because it uses all of his writing, photography and marketing skills on a daily basis. He has worked for Motor and Lansing magazines, and was later a circulation director for trade publisher Helmers Publishing, where he managed direct marketing activities for the company's  magazines, technical books and industry directories.

Beihl continued to work in magazine circulation as a consultant after leaving Helmers in 1990 to care for his new daughter, Madeleine. After seven years as primary caregiver to the kids, Brian began work part time on Family on Board in February 1997, and full time beginning in June 1997.

Brian incorporated his operation as MCE Catalog Ventures, Inc.in January 1998, and the first catalog was mailed May 3, 1998.

Jeanmarie continues in her position as a merchandise director for a retail chain based in New Hampshire.

The Beihls now have three children, Madeleine, 8, Claire, 6, and Ethan, 4. All three children have extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, now having visited 25 states at their tender young ages. Madeleine also traveled to Switzerland with Jeanmarie in 1991.

Beihl graduated with a B.A. in journalism from Michigan State University in 1984.
